Exercise Recommendations for Rheumatoid Arthritis

Wishing all of our BJC Connect Community a Happy New Year!

Our first event of 2022 will be hosted by Sarah and Fabio. Exercise has been found to be incredibly beneficial for those with Rheumatoid Arthritis. However, it can be challenging to know what type of exercise is safe, and how much movement is recommended to perform. Flare ups, joint pain and fatigue can also make sticking to a regular exercise routine particularly challenging for those with Rheumatoid Arthritis. During our live online event Rheumatologist Dr Fabio Kullock and Exercise Physiologist Sarah Comensoli will aim to cover:

  • Specific Benefits of exercise for those with Rheumatoid Arthritis
  • Moving with Pain: Why it’s important and encouraged
  • Recommended frequency and intensity of the following types of exercise
    • Aerobic/Cardiovascular
    • Strength and Resistance Training
    • Mobility/Yoga
  • How to manage fatigue and flare ups whilst you keep moving
  • Knowing how hard you can push yourself
