One patient, ten symptoms: Neurodivergence, Pain and the Bigger Picture

When pain, fatigue, sensory sensitivities, and other symptoms start to overlap, it can be hard to understand how they might all fit together. For people living with rheumatoid arthritis, hypermobility, persistent pain, or other musculoskeletal conditions, symptoms can be influenced by a range of physical, sensory, emotional, and lifestyle factors. Taking a step back and looking at the bigger picture can help make sense of these connections and identify ways to better support your everyday wellbeing.

In this live online session, Physiotherapist Blanche Leung will explore the relationship between neurodivergence, pain, and the many different factors that can shape how we experience our bodies. She'll discuss why symptoms can vary from person to person, how the nervous system and sensory processing can influence pain and movement, and practical ways to better understand and respond to your body's signals. This discussion is for anyone living with ongoing pain, fatigue, or multiple symptoms, particularly those managing a rheumatic or musculoskeletal condition.

Join Blanche for an engaging conversation covering the following:

When symptoms overlap: Explore why pain, fatigue, sensory sensitivities, sleep, and other symptoms can occur together, and why looking at each symptom in isolation doesn't always tell the whole story.

Neurodivergence and the nervous system: Learn more about how differences in sensory processing and nervous system responses can influence the way pain, movement, and other physical sensations are experienced.

Understanding your body's signals: Explore how paying attention to patterns in your symptoms, energy, activity, and environment can help you better understand what your body may be responding to.

Movement and everyday activity: Consider how movement, exercise, rest, and daily routines can be adjusted around your individual needs, preferences, and energy levels, without taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

Putting the bigger picture together: Look at practical ways to understand your symptoms, make supportive changes, and work with the different aspects of your health rather than focusing on just one piece of the puzzle.

This session offers an opportunity to look at pain and other symptoms from a broader perspective, helping you better understand your own experiences and identify practical ways to support your wellbeing. Mark your calendar for Wednesday, November 25th, and join us for this informative virtual gathering. We encourage your questions and active participation to make this a truly collaborative learning experience for everyone involved.
